Reunited With My Old Friend Ralph Slaske

Good morning everyone and what a good morning it is! I am in my favorite coffee shop just having my morning mojo and pecking away at my laptop when an old childhood friend of mine by the name of Ralph Slaske happens to walk up to the front and make his purchase. I haven’t seen the guy in perhaps 20 years, but I would recognise that walk anywhere!

Upon reuniting, we both sat down and had a long talk about the past and the future. Ralph says he is working on his own website and he is really looking forward to opening his own business. I take another sip of my cup, looking him focused on my eyes with a passion burning in them.

Ralph Slaske has always been the kind of guy that wants things done his way and if it didn’t make sense to him, he would find a better way to do it. It makes perfect sense of why he would want to get away from the employed work life and start running things his way as the employer and businessman.

In The Coffee Shop With Peter Lik

Everyday is a good day when it is began with coffee. The smell of coffee in the morning has been proven by research to lower stress and increase the flow of endorphins. In other words, even just the smell of coffee makes a person happy. A few months back, I mentioned the policy I have with myself when I said…

“I have this policy with myself that if I meet an interesting and friendly person on my day-to-day adventures I’ll offer to buy their coffee for them. As much as I love coffee, it’s one of the ways I can show my appreciation.”

Well, I met up with a man named Peter Lik in the coffee shop not too far from my house and he and I got into an interesting discussion. Turns out Peter is a world famous photographer and his ego will make sure you know it! He showed me some of his work, maybe two or three pictures and all I can say is the colors and detail were perfection.

Deep Fried Coffee Is Quickly Gaining Popularity

Apparently banking on the theory that anything will taste great when it is deep-fried, an innovative vendor at the Bacon-A-Fair is serving up deep-fried coffee grounds inside of dough balls. The resulting treat looks very much like a donut hole, especially considering the fact that it is dusted with sugar and topped with a bit of whipped cream. The deep-fried “coffee balls” are already something of a hit, as consumers are beginning to suggest that these coffee balls should be available at every coffee and donut shop.

Of course, deep-fried coffee is not exactly nutritious, but the goal of the Bacon-A-Fair is hardly aimed at offering healthy options to its attendees. The makers of the deep-fried coffee will surely have no trouble at all when it comes time to secure additional funding for their venture, as there will be plenty of parties with an interest in leveraging the immediate success of the newly created deep-fried coffee balls.

As for HFC, it seems clear that the consensus is that these deep-fried coffee balls are sure to be a popular treat for quite some time. Coffee is consumed by the vast majority of the population and there is little denying that sugary treats are always going to be a weak spot for even the healthiest of individuals. While it is not a good idea to adopt a daily deep-fried coffee ball habit, there is certainly nothing wrong with the occasional pairing of this sweet treat with a nice cup of hot coffee in the morning.

Coffee Offers Risk and Reward in Athletic Endeavors

There has been a great deal of discussion in recent years about performance enhancers in professional sports, but one particular performance enhancer has slipped under the radar for quite some time. Caffeine is one of the most effective performance enhancers available, and many athletes get a dose of caffeine through a cup of coffee they consume before and even during competition. Serena Williams recently requested an espresso in between matches at a tennis tournament, and Matthew Dellavedova of the Cleveland Cavaliers recently revealed he drinks a cup of coffee before tipoff and at halftime.

The reason that these athletes bring coffee with them from city to city is that caffeine is known to improve athletic performance in endurance events. Drinking coffee gives athletes a little extra energy to keep in the bank during competition, and studies have shown that caffeine can improve performance significantly when used properly. Of course, there are risks involved in using coffee and caffeine in this way, as the results are not as great for those who drink coffee on a regular basis and have therefore developed a tolerance.

The other issue, which was recently brought to greater prominence during the NBA Finals, is the fact that coffee is a diuretic and can cause dehydration. This is precisely what happened to Dellavedova, as the point guard had to be taken to the hospital following one of the games to be treated for severe cramping that doctors believe was caused by excessive coffee consumption.

Cold-Brew Coffee Is Time Consuming But Worthwhile

There is simply no denying that coffee is among the most popular drinks available, and as such, it is always being experimented with to see if there is some new way to enjoy the tasty beverage. One style of coffee that is rapidly gaining in popularity and prevalence is cold-brew coffee, which is vastly different from iced coffee. The process of making cold-brew coffee is not exactly efficient, so a little advance planning is required to enjoy this different take on coffee. All the planning is worthwhile, however, as cold-brew coffee can be enjoyed on its own or as the main ingredient in some very tasty beverage creations.

To make cold-brew coffee at home, coffee grounds have to be steeped overnight in cold water. The process may take longer than a single night, but it is possible to use water at room temperature as well. Though there is some advance preparation needed, a cold-brew coffee on a warm summer day is incredibly refreshing and is worth the effort and the patience required.

Instead of making the cold-brewed coffee, Vivier suggests frequenting one of the many establishments that serves cold-brew coffee as a part of its specialty drink offerings. Among the favorites offered at these establishments is the cold-brew coffee milkshake, which is an excellent treat for any hot summer afternoon. There is also nitrogenized cold-brew coffee, which is a creamy and cold drink that does not include any dairy in its ingredients. These options are very welcome additions, and it appears clear that cold-brew coffee is here to stay.

Coffee in the Morning May Not Be So Great After All

Everyone has their own morning routine that they adhere to, and more often than not that routine includes a piping-hot cup of coffee. That first cup helps wake us up and keeps us alert as we go about our day, but some recent research seems to indicate that going for coffee first thing in the morning may not be the most optimal time for consumption.

Andina Acquisition CEO Luke Weil noted that the study indicates that early-morning caffeine consumption can alter our natural circadian rhythms to such a degree that it affects many of our natural waking processes. One of these processes involves the production and release of cortisol, the hormone that aids in making us feel alert when we rise each day. If caffeine is consumed shortly after waking up by drinking a cup of coffee, it is possible that our body will respond by limiting cortisol and instead relying on the caffeine.

While coffee consumption may not be ideal for the early-morning hours, the mid-morning hours seem to be all right, according to the study. Once the natural levels of cortisol begin to dip in the hours that follow 10 a.m., coffee consumption and the caffeine that is included can have the beneficial effect so many drinkers are seeking. The alertness generated by caffeine is more likely to actually be experienced by veteran coffee drinkers who have developed a tolerance, and drinking coffee at this time of day will have less of an adverse effect on the production and release of cortisol.

Coffee Drinker Health

untitled (326) untitled (325)Can something like coffee really be good for you?  If you are a coffee drinker you will want to believe that it is good for your health as you have no plans to quit any time soon.  If you are the coffee snob you will preach the virtues of coffee as long as anyone will listen but what is the science.  Well as with anything in this life, coffee is good for you in moderation.  Too much of anything can be bad for you.  So just remember the coffee is not the only thing you need to survive.  Eric Gonchar is a coffee lover and has no plans to quit.

Quit Coffee Cold Turkey?

untitled (239) images8BC59ZFUI quit coffee cold turkey and found that it isn’t that easy.  By noon I had a slitting head ache and had to lay down.  My energy level was low and I needed my coffee.  I made me a cup and was back on my feet in minutes.  Am I a coffee junkie?  I then decided to go with decaf.  The decaf was terrible and didn’t help with the head ache.  I gave it a day and caved.  The next morning I had me that good cup of Joe and said I will never quit.  Thanks to Dana Sibilsky the decaf was great but not for me.

Coffee too Strong?

untitled (214) images (16)Why are all the coffee shops serving such strong coffee?  Am I the only one that thinks the coffee is too strong?  Why do I have to dump in a bunch of cream to be able to tolerate it?  Do people build up a resistance to regular coffee and require stronger coffee as time goes on?  If this is true then why do I continue to hate strong coffee?  The best way to deal with all the ultra strong coffees is to simply avoid the shops that serve it that way.  In my interview with David Jensen I had coffee that was too strong and it rattled me.

Coffee Good for your Health?

untitled (8) untitled (7) untitled (6)Every day you here about something is good for your health.  Coffee is now among the red wines and beer groups.  I hear now that coffee is good for you in moderation.  It apparently kick starts your metabolism and get you going in the morning.  I guess that I could have told you that with out the million dollar study.  I give up,  what is the truth?  Milk is bad for you then it is good for you,  Butter is no good then it is.  I think that we really don’t know what is good or bad so do as you wish.  No matter what,  they will say it is good for you eventually.  Phil Pustejovsky  is a coffee drinker and does not plan to stop any time soon.

Burnt Coffee

tumblr_m9w8eu8jvD1rsleueThe office coffee is the worst.  My boss likes it burnt.  He is so cheap that he runs the day old coffee back threw the percolator.  The burnt smell would fill the office.  He might add some more coffee and water to make a full pot.  It was enough for me to skip the cup that was offered.  To survive I began putting cream and sugar into the coffee to offset the burnt component. It worked and to this day I cant drink coffee without both.  If your boss is that cheap I would try sneaking into the coffee room at the end of the day and empty the pot.  Eric Gonchar would drink any coffee anywhere.

Coffee at Starbucks

imagesND41PR8CCoffee at Starbucks is good but is it worth six dollars?  I say no.  The convenience is worth something but you can make a whole pot of coffee for the price of one cup there.  So why do people spend their money there?  Is it a trend or fad that will eventually fail.  I guess the fact that they have been in business for years says no.  So what is it that attracts millions every day to the local Starbucks?  Just don’t think too much about it and enjoy the morning cup on the way to work like everyone else.  Dana Sibilsky drinks Starbucks coffee every day, even on days off and will as long as he can afford it.

Is a Coffee Press Right for You?

There are many types of coffee drinkers out there, and for every type of coffee drinker there is a different method of preparation that is ideal. For the caffeine junkie who only views coffee as a means to an end, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the coffee available at the gas station or brewed out of one of those single-serving plastic containers. For the enthusiastic coffee aficionado, the use of a French press is almost a necessity to ensure that the coffee beans reach their full potential.

According to Luke Weil of SkuRun, a coffee press is a product that serious coffee consumers view as a necessity. It functions in the simplest of fashions and in a manner consistent with its name, yielding a cup of coffee that is brewed in a very slow and gradual manner. This brings out many complex flavors that discerning coffee drinkers greatly appreciate, and the process itself harkens back to a simpler and seemingly more carefree time.

If you find yourself pondering whether or not the coffee made in your traditional coffee pot is as pleasing as it should be, it is perhaps time to consider using a French press. You will likely find that the simple process yields very complex flavors that are quite rewarding to your taste buds.

I Need my Morning Coffee!

If you are like me, you have to have that cup or two of coffee in the morning to function.  I mean that without my coffee I am not myself.  I get a major head ache and cant function.  I understand this and avoid running out of coffee.  It would be a disaster if I had to go without coffee.  Just try to imagine a world without coffee.  Everyone would be staggering around like zombies!  The coffee shortage would shut down any energy efforts.  The resulting world would fall into the past.  Soon we would be riding horses to work and washing in streams. In my interview with David Jensen  got a glimpse of how it would be.

Luigi Wewege Opens His Day With Coffee

Coffee helps you work better. It’s true, according to a new study earlier this year, coffee actually helps you concentrate. Caffeine is absorbed into the brain just like a sponge soaks up water. When this happens, many of the neurons, or also better known as brain cells are impacted in a way that benefits you. As the years come and go, many studies continue to reveal that caffeine can increase mental focus and concentration. This is why we feel compelled to drink this natural stimulant in the morning to shake the cobwebs out. When CEO of Vivier & Co., Luige Wewege, was recently asked what makes him productive, he responded by saying,

“It always starts with a coffee due to being predominantly a night owl. I am at my most productive when it’s quiet and I can work without interruptions and distractions. To allow the latter to occur I during the day, endeavor to check in with international staff members as they come online via their respective time zones and go over any pressing issues they may have”

Seems like Mr. Wewege knows exactly what he’s doing. He is drinking his coffee during the time he needs to be the most alert. That’s another thing. The less caffeine you consume, the more powerful it will be for you. We have all heard the saying that less is more. This is because the mind and body react to this natural stimulant as part of natural life. This means the more you use, faster and easier your body gets adjusted and stops reacting the same way. The feeling and rush of natural adrenaline from the caffeine fades. Knowing this, if you want to get the most from caffeine, the trick is to limit your consumption to about 300 mg per day and consume it only one time every day, usually at the moment you need to be the most alert.

Knowing this, if you want to get the most from caffeine, the trick is to limit your consumption to about 300 mg per day and consume it only one time every day, usually at the moment you need to be the most alert.

Drinking Coffee for Your Health

It is not often that you look at your daily cup of coffee and think of it as a healthy beverage, but perhaps it is time to change that perception. There is mounting evidence that coffee is not just good for sharpening your focus and increasing your productivity, but it is also helpful in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and even cancer. This is good news for coffee aficionados, as it provides an even greater reason to chug that morning mug beyond its warmth and flavor.

A longtime coffee drinker, Adam Kutner is thrilled to learn of the studies asserting the many health benefits of coffee. He also has his own advice that he feels coffee drinkers should adopt, believing that too many are adding cream and sugar in excessive quantities.

The cream and sugar that so many add to that morning cup of coffee add significant calories and offer very little in the way of nutritional benefits. Kutner prefers to drink his coffee black and opts for a dark roast, but it was not always that way. In fact, Kutner was once guilty of adding far too much cream and sugar until he began to slowly reduce the amount he added before eventually making the switch to black.

Many black coffee drinkers prefer the taste and feel that this is the way that coffee should be consumed. As for those health benefits, drinking black coffee is certainly the way to go to maximize the healthiness of your favorite morning beverage.

Cup of Joe on the Go

Waking up with my cup of Joe on the go.   Is it the twenty dollar cup or the rerun through morning coffee that was left over from the week before.. Do like your cup of Joe on the go in the house on the car or train in the rain.   Do you like you coffee dark roasted, light roasted. Is it from this country or another country from around the world.. Coffee wakes us up from the lovey dream so we can buy more cup of Joe on the go from those name brand companies that over price the coffee that they push off as the newest and best that is on the market to the day.. Then Tonye Cole is off to the races for another cup of coffee that someone tells you that this is the best and newest high priced cup of coffee in this price store or this up and coming business around the corner block.
